How to sign disgust in ASL? ›

American Sign Language: "disgust"

The sign for "disgust" also means "nauseous." Make a claw hand. The movement is as if you were scratching you belly in a circular fashion. The knuckles stay bent in the same position throughout the duration of the sign. The facial expression is one of disgust.

To sign gross, make a face of disgust and rub your dominant hand in a claw shape on top of your belly, in counter-clockwise circles. Another popular way to sign gross in ASL is to take your dominant claw-shaped hand, then make a clockwise motion on your chest.

The sign for "embarrassed" has several versions. To do the general sign for embarrassed, alternate moving your hands upward alongside your head as if showing the blood rushing up into your face as you are feeling embarrassed. Use a bit of a rotating movement for each hand (up, forward a bit, down, back a bit).
