She formerly taught at Whitmire High School, Manning Training School, Long High School and Cheraw High School. She was a coordinator with the Hartsville District United Methodist Church Women and Hartsville District Council on Ministries. chairwoman of the administrative council of Wesley Church and Nurturing Ministries, president of United Methodist Women, a founder of Bennettsville-Cheraw Cooperative Ministry, a certified church lay speaker and a teacher for teacher training and vacation Bible school workshops.
